Senior 2D Artist - Character

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior 2D Character Artist to create appealing, readable, and memorable characters for our hybrid-casual mobile game. You will design characters, skins, costumes, expressions, and character-related assets from sketch to final polished artwork.

Applications including a portfolio will be prioritized during the review process.

Responsibilities

  • Create high-quality 2D character artwork from sketch to final game-ready asset
  • Design characters, skins, costumes, accessories, expressions, and variations
  • Maintain a consistent character style across the game
  • Prepare character assets suitable for Spine/Unity Animator rigging and animation
  • Create character turnarounds, expression sheets, pose sheets, and production-ready breakdowns
  • Work closely with the Concept Artist, Art Director, Animators, and Developers
  • Support visual exploration for character personalities and world themes
  • Iterate based on feedback, gameplay needs, and technical requirements
  • Maintain a high visual quality bar for all character assets

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a 2D Character Artist, Game Artist, Illustrator, or similar role
  • Experience in mobile games, casual games, hybrid-casual games, animation, or stylized character production
  • Strong portfolio showing stylized character design, final artwork quality, shape language, and personality
  • Strong understanding of anatomy, gesture, silhouette, color, lighting, and form
  • Ability to design appealing characters for a broad mobile audience
  • Ability to create consistent skin variations and character families
  • Understanding of Spine animation requirements and character asset separation
  • Proficiency in Photoshop or similar digital painting tools
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience preparing characters for Spine/Unity Animator animation
  • Experience creating model sheets, expression sheets, and pose sheets
  • Basic understanding of Unity implementation
  • Experience with 3D-to-2D character workflows or render paintover
  • Ability to mentor junior artists or give constructive feedback
  • Genuine passion for mobile games and game development
